Jags get first free agent for ‘10

Kassim Osgood was signed to the team this week as a free agent to a 3 year, 6.7 mil deal. The former Chargers WR played mostly special teams but was once the Chargers leading WR. He was mainly limited in numbers do to Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates being the primary targets but was named in special teams to the Pro Bowl three times. The Jags need a playmaker on special teams and KO with his experience can be a great slasher WR and break thru the defensive secondary.

NFL Overtime changes?

NFL Overtime is one of the most annoying “tiebreaker” scenarios in all of professional sports. It needs to be changed to be a more “fair” to both teams and the better team should win and not a game of chance. Lets start there with the coin toss.

Was Holt signing a good decision?

Torry Holt just finished his first and only season as a member of the Teal and Black these last few weeks. The former St. Louis Rams WR and Super Bowl champ came over to the team out of free agency and was supposed to make a big impact. The 11 year veteran entered the year with 869 catches and 74 TD’s but you could see by his movement that his quick game breaking speed was declining. Did Wayne Weaver and Del Rio make a good decision in signing Holt?

Pick is in for 2010 Draft and its not Tebow.

With the 11th pick in the 2010 Fanball.com Draft, Jacksonville selects Jason Pierre Paul, DE out of South Florida. Great pick up and fill a position of need. Plus owner Wayne Weaver can boost ticket sales with local talent.

Five month Update on the Tebow Debate

On September 17, 2009 when the Jags were 0-1 after an opening game loss to the Colts, I wrote that the Jags should not draft Tebow with their first draft pick and I still stand by that statement. Now at the time I did not know that the Jags would finish 7-9 and have a coin flip with the Bears for the 10th-11th pick but the sentiment still remains. It is a mistake, a PR move, not an improvement and Ill tell you why.

Two Players that Jags need on the field more

Derek Cox and Rashean Mathis are the teams best corner backs. Cox was able to start every game in the 2009 season and had 3 Int. He had 58 tackles and assisted on another fourteen so you know he is as asset to the secondary. Cox played very well for a Rookie out of small William and Mary University

Pro Bowl Stats and Updates for Jones-Drew and Garrard

With only two Jags in the Pro Bowl in Jones-Drew, 2nd string RB, and Garrard, alternate for Peyton Manning, TealPower.com will give you a play-by-play of their contributions to the game. Garrard and Jones-Drew both ended the game. Pretty borinng game so far if you are a Jags Fan. Mojo and Garrard get only one late series into the 2nd quarter. Im glad Im not at the Pro Bowl, because I would be gone at halftime. There has only been a few plays that were nice and that was a TD by WR Andre Johnson and any time Josh Cribbs touches the ball on special teams.

Should Jags keep Reggie Nelson?

Reggie Nelson, starting S for the Jags, just finished his third year out of a five year contract. He was drafted in the 1st round of the 2007 NFL Draft as the 21st player selected. But has he done enough for the team to deserve to stay on the roster? The Jags should release him of his contract because he has not been worth the investment. Look at his numbers thru the last two seasons and see for yourself that he should be released or work more on his pass defense.
