J-A-G-S JAGS JAGS WIN 24-22
November 15th, 2009 | by Nate Bruce |The Jags played a great 1st half and a weak 2nd half but still get a win on the road vs the Jets. The Jags offense didnt get a first down til 4:00 left in the 4th. Then Garrard went to work hitting Mercedes Lewis on a big post route to get into FG range at the two minute warning. With no timeouts left, the Jets tried to let MoJo score on purpose but Jones Drew sled down on purpose at the one. Scobee came on for the winning FG with two seconds left in the game and was as far as an extra point to get the road win. Jags offense refused to lose this game and fought hard to win
Jags dominate 1st half 21-13
The Jags offense did a good job of leaving Thomas Jones watching on the sidelines by holding the ball for nineteen minutes of the first half. Jones Drew carried the ball 15 times for 93 yards and 1 long TD. Garrard played a very well first half having one passing TD to Mike Sims Walker for 26 yards and one rushing TD for 11 yards. The Jags offense left the punter on the sidelines and scored on every drive except for one mssed Scobee FG from 49 yards. 250 yards of balanced offense leads to a good second half and a win to get this team above .500 for the first time this season. Jags need to keep the offense balanced and leave Jones on the fielde and they will get a much needed road victory.
The defense got an early spark from Pro Bowl corner Rashean Mathis with a pick off of Sanchez on the first play of scrimmage. They did a good job of bottling up Thomas Jones holding hin to only 45 yards on 10 plays. They held the Jets offense to only 140 yards. The second half they need to get a better pass rush on Sanchez because they have been beaten by TE Dustin Keller and WR Jericho Cotchery.
Weak 3rd quarter for both teams
3 turnovers combined for both teams lead to scoreless, sloppy, sad third quarter. DE Quentin Groves takes a Sanchez Int to the Jets 4 but two plays later, MoJo fumbles after a bad exchange between Garrard and himself where he bobbled the ball and the Jets recovered. Two plays later Rashean Mathis strips Braylon Edwards after Edwards had a 41 yard catch and the Jags recover. The way this game is going, the team with the ball last in this game will get the win because neither team is looking to take control of put the game away.
