Jags vs Texans = Shootout
December 1st, 2009 | by Nate Bruce |Jags get ready for Game 2 back in Jacksonville against the inconsistent Houston Texans. Matt Schaub brings the Texans back to town and look for revenge after losing 31-24 in Game 1. Jacksonville’s offense was rolling in that game with Jones-Drew carrying the ball 23 times for 119 yards and 3 TD’s. Schaub was the better QB of the day completing 26 passes for 300 yards and 3 TD’s. This game should be around the same score with neither defense any good so whoever gets the ball last should win this game. Jacksonville needs to win this game which should be an offensive shootout. Neither defense is good against the pass and Schaub is a great QB but the Texans cant run the ball. Little Steve Slaton is the Texans leading rusher and only has 430 yards on the season and 3 TD’s. Slaton is very fast but not very strong so the Jags defensive line should be able to contain him. Jags are very good against the run but horrible against the pass so look for Jones-Drew to get a lot of carries. Garrard should be able to have a breakout game and throw for 250 yards and Mike Sims-Walker will be able to get past the Texans small secondary for huge yards.
Playoff Chances
This game is a must win for the Jags with a winnable game next week at home vs the Dolphins. If the Jags lose on Sunday, go ahead and cancel any playoff tickets you might have wanted to buy because the team will be home. If the Jags want to make the playoffs they have to win four of their last five games. They play home games vs Houston, Sunday, than home vs Dolphins and Colts on a Sunday night. They then play a game vs New England in Boston which will probably be a loss and then at Cleveland to end the season which should be a win. Jags have to fight for their lives for the rest of the season, hope for some luck, and never give up. They have no more road games on the West Coast which should definitely help because the Jags lost badly their two west coast trips with a combined score of 61-3. Fight hard team, make the playoffs, or you will see that coaches hot seat warm up for Del Rio.
